Disney Magic Experiences Brief Power Failure At Sea

Earlier this evening, guests aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic reported the ship experienced a brief power failure while at sea.

According to reports, the Disney Magic reportedly lost power just north of Cuba while sailing towards Cozumel, Mexico. The ship was reportedly without power for about 2-3 minutes, according to Pete Werner, a guest currently sailing aboard the ship. Werner posted a status on Facebook earlier this evening stating, “The Disney Magic is dead in the water on our way to Cozumel. Huge puff of black smoke seen from the front of the ship followed by power failure.” Werner also followed up on the status, commenting that after 45 minutes, the Disney Magic was underway again.

At this time, it is believed that no further serious issues have occurred with the Disney Magic. Disney Cruise Line has not made any public or private statement regarding the short power failure.

The Disney Magic is currently sailing on a 7 night western Caribbean itinerary. The ship spent today at sea after departing Port Canaveral yesterday evening. The Disney Magic is expected to dock in Cozumel tomorrow with no delays following tonight’s incident.
