Commercials are meant to convey a message and sell a product. For the travel industry, specifically the cruise industry, it can be tough. Cruise lines aren’t selling a single product, they are selling a vacation experience. Throughout the last year or so, a few of the cruise lines have launched commercials that I believe capture the very essence of the cruise experience. I believe these commercials truly sell the experiences and enrichment you can obtain through taking a cruise. In no particular order, here are 4 great cruise line commercials and why they made the list:

“Moments That Matter” – Carnival

Carnival’s latest ad campaign, “Moments That Matter,” does a great job of putting a personal touch on the cruise experience. I believe the main theme of capturing your memories and moments from your cruise drives home the notion that a cruise is all about you. The memories you make onboard are the memories you will take with you throughout life. I believe the commercial encourages guests to have the time of their life, make their memories, make you cruise a moment that matters.

 

“Life Should Be Measured In Moments Not Minutes” – MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises launched theirĀ “Life Should Be Measured In Moments Not Minutes” campaign earlier this year, encouraging guests to distance themselves from a daily routine and schedule. How can one do this? Take an MSC cruise. In MSC’s commercial, the line focuses on showcasing guests experiencing their own personal “moments” onboard their ships and ports of call. In this relaxed and laid back commercial, cruisers are shown that an MSC cruise is all about taking a step back from their daily lives and really experiencing the moments that matter.

 

“The Sea Is Calling, Answer It Royally” – Royal Caribbean

Ah yes, the notorious talking seashell. While this very well produced commercial received mixed reviews, I have always believed that this commercial is one of the best to come out of the cruise industry. In my opinion, the mix of relaxing music and the real life connection between the actors and us creates for a truly “feel good” commercial. People are shown putting their life on pause, answering their shell phone, and imagining taking a cruise. For me, the commercial is almost hypnotic. Each time I watch it, I become very relaxed and get that “I’m going on a cruise feeling.” It’s a truly great commercial and I will always appreciate it for what it evokes within me.

 

“Cruise Like A Norwegian” – Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian’s “Cruise Like A Norwegian” commercial fits Norwegian perfectly – it’s all about what you want to do. Whether you are looking to “Dine Like A Parisian” or “Live Like A Bohemian,” you can pretty much cruise the way you like on Norwegian. Similar to Royal Caribbean’s “The Seas Is Calling” commercial, Norwegian’s evokes a feeling of relaxation, but at the same time excitement. Each trait exemplified in the commercial finally leads up to invite you to cruise the way you would like – to “Cruise Like A Norwegian.”
