Norwegian Cruise Line Announces Inaugural Festivities For Breakaway Debut

In anticipation of the upcoming launch of Norwegian Breakaway, one of 2013’s hottest new ships, Norwegian Cruise Line is counting down the days until the arrival of the vessel and has launched a global social media campaign featuring the “100 Days to Norwegian Breakaway” countdown on its social properties – Facebook,TwitterInstagram and Pinterest. Each day, users can share in the excitement of the countdown and enjoy a fun fact about the ship, destination, or of her year-round homeport of New York City.  In addition, the company officially announced Norwegian Breakaway’s exclusive inaugural preview events in Europe and New York for travel partners.

nclAerialBreakaway01wSlideNorwegian Breakaway, also known as “New York’s Ship” for its New York inspired amenities and features, will arrive in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on April 26 for the start of her European inaugural events and be showcased to Continental European travel partners on a two day cruise.  On April 29, travel partners in the UK will be invited onboard for a one-night preview.

The ship will depart Southampton on April 30 and embark on her maiden voyage, a seven-day transatlantic crossing to New York City. Vacationers looking to set sail on a once-in-a-lifetime cruise and to be the first to experience the ship first-hand, can still book a stateroom on the transatlantic sailing.

The inaugural events will culminate with the ship’s spectacular christening in New York City – Norwegian Breakaway’s year-round homeport – on May 8 followed by a two-night exclusive inaugural cruise.  One of New York’s most illustrious and beloved icons, The Rockettes, are set to serve as the ship’s Godmothers. During a second preview sailing over Mother’s Day weekend, May 10 through 12, the ship will host New York-area mothers affected by Hurricane Sandy as part of the line’s participation in the special holiday giveaway episode of Katie Couric’s talk show, Katie.

Norwegian Breakaway will begin her weekly summer seven-day cruises to Bermuda on Sunday, May 12. Soon after in October, New York’s ship will offer voyages from the heart of Manhattan to the Bahamas & Florida and the Southern Caribbean.

There is something about this MV Breakaway, It has brought a lot of memory’s back to me .Reading all about this ship and the times that I was in and out of pier 92 NYC on the 1st MV Queen Elizabeth she was 89000 tons , I can remember Captan Storey bringing her up the huddsen and alongside without the aide of a tug .But what awaited us on key was all the rassamataz ,Bands, and ticatape and after haveing a 70ft wall of water around us for most of the five days ,!! It was a very welcome site indeed .So to you the captan or maybe the Commerdor of this Ship. I wish I could be there with you and your crew ,I wish you many happy Sailings . (( Regards Smoking )) This is what I was gowing to say on the poll , BRIGHT SPARK WHO SMOKES IN BED WAKES TO FIND FLAMES LEAPING AROUND HIS HEAD. ?? This was on a poster in all crew cabins .IM not a killjoy to all you smokers out there but when you are ashore in all those exotic places smoke twice as many ,! ?This is to all the passengers on board , because the crew will be running around like headless chickens and won’t have time to smoke ! Infact there shoes will be doing the smoking for them . I wish everyone the very best again .And to the Norwegian Cruise Line Many Thanks for bringing these butifull ships to OUR SHORES .If anyone out there would like to read story’s from my years at sea I would be pleased to write .Ihave been on ships from 2.000 toners to 125.000 toners .I can walk the walk and if you require a guest speaker I can talk the talk .
