Day 1: Set Sail!
Hello everybody! I am LIVE from Allure of the Seas and about to start sailing the open seas. First impression of the ship:… IT’S HUGE!!! Compared to the Carnival Freedom (which is docked right next to us), Allure of the Seas could probably fit two Carnival Freedoms, and still have room for more! Today, I had the opportunity to experience the pools and I got to tour all of the neighborhoods onboard. I’ll write a review on the neighborhoods on one of the days I am not docked at a port (probably Tuesday or Wednesday), but let’s talk about the pools now.
I didn’t have the best first time in the pools. Reason being, I was really excited so I jumped in the pool without my goggles on, opened my eyes, and it was the saltwater pool… My eyes were ON FIRE and I ran all over the place trying to find a towel while being almost blind, which was probably very entertaining for the other guests on the pool deck. After that whole episode, I found the regular pool, ordered a pińa colada (which was non-alcoholic), and relaxed for awhile in the sun.
After basking in the sun, I toured the neighborhoods with my cousin and got some pretty good photos. We then had lunch at the Windjammer Café and the food was… meh (review on food later). Then I had to experience the emergency drill which consisted of me just standing around listening to the same things in 5 different languages. I did, however, understand the French speaker so I guess that’s a good sign that my French classes are paying off.
For dinner, I ate in the Main Dining Room and I wasn’t very hungry so I just had a salad. After dinner I went to the Teen Zone where I met some friends and partied all night at their “Sail Away Party.”
It was a fun first day on Allure and I cannot wait to see the Bahamas in the morning. Tune in tomorrow for another blog post!
